Tyneside Lustre Transfers.
It is unusual to find a piece of pink lustre decorated pottery made on Tyneside marked with the name of the manufacturer. Pieces can be attributed to Tyneside in general by the colour and style of the overpainted clobbering. Fot this reason I have kept the decoration surrounding a transfer in the photographs. The clobbering, (and often the transfer itself) being overglaze is susceptable to wear, scratching and even complete disappearance.
Home is a name of more than magic spell, Whose sacred power the wanderer best can tell, He who far distant from his native land, Feels at her name his eager soul expand; Whether as Patriot, Husband, Father, Friend, To that dear point his only wishes tend, And yet he owns where ere his footsteps roam, Life's choicest blessings centre all at HOME. |
